Im doing a lot of reading (and re-reading) of things written by and about Maud at the moment and I came to the conclusion that she would probably be tickled pink about this movie. I actually think she would also quite like the awful Anne 3. She would enjoy seeing her characters through different eyes and I honestly think she would enjoy the fact that the gaul of the Sullivans to tinker with peoples heroine as they have done caused such controversy. Seems like she wasnt as in love with Anne as the rest of us. Dont get me wrong I still hate this movie though :)

Having read all the books, I have to admit, I was very disappointed in this latest Anne of Green Gables version for many reasons. The first reason is that it totally rewrites the entire Anne history. Never was there a mention of Anne's father being alive or any of the characters in the story. Second, Anne had seven children, not one, a fact that goes against all the other AOGG books. This is the same disappointment I felt with the third Anne movie, which also rewrote the Anne story. In the books, it's Anne's children who experience World War I, not Anne herself. I would much rather have seen a story about Anne and Gilbert starting their married lives together, rather than some fabricated plot that didn't feel like AOGG at all. Kevin Sullivan, please stop ruining our Anne series, especially when there is so much material you had to work with. L.M. Montgomery gave you seven Anne books for crying out loud. Stop insulting Anne fans with these distorted versions.

I walked into the bookstore today and what did I see right at the front door? A display of this movie on dvd. Kind of weird because it hasnt been on tv here or had any publicity. The tag line says "it goes right to the heart of L.M.Montgomery'. I wanted to stand there and yell NO IT DOESNT!!! this is awful dont buy it!!!! LOLS. I guess its a good movie in its own right it just really has so little to do with the Anne that the world knows and less to do with L.M.M.
