This summer, Sullivan Entertainment sent a team of people to Kenya to oversee the building of the world’s first Anne of Green Gables school. The team included Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning star Hannah Endicott-Douglas (who played the young Anne Shirley), Sullivan Entertainment President Trudy Grant, and members of her family.

One of this year’s leading Oscar contenders, Black Swan, is a psychological thriller set in the high pressure world of a ballet company.  A lot of the buzz surrounding the movie, ever since it premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, is that Barbara Hershey – who starred as Anne Shirley in Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning – may be one of the Academy’s recipients, along with some of her fellow cast members.

Starting in November, Public Television stations across the United States will be able to air Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning and the original Anne of Green Gables, shown for the first time in HD, over a two-year period.

At the beginning of Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning, Anne is left with no one to take care of her and finds herself forced to stay at a cold and destitute asylum.  Surrounded by the ill and insane, Anne’s fate is up in the air within the dark stone walls of this prison.  If you’re wondering where these scenes were actually filmed, we have the inside (and historic) scoop.
