Seeing as how Anne Shirley thrived on school and feeding her imagination with new knowledge, it seems fitting that her image should adorn back-to-school items. When Kevin Sullivan was casting Anne of Green Gables, there were some actors that he instantly knew would be a good fit.  He recalls that Patricia Hamilton, the actress who played the indefatigable Rachel Lynde, was one of them.  She made the character of Rachel Lynde all that she was, Kevin says.  Whether she was playing the busy-body best friend of Marilla Cuthbert in all four Anne of Green Gables films, Road to Avonlea or later, in Sullivan’s Anne: The Animated Series, Hamilton made her mark on the world of Anne.

Today is officially “back to school” day, which means that parents and caregivers everywhere will be looking for some quality programming with which to entertain their children in those “after school” hours.  The Anne of Green Gables Animated Series is a mix of charming entertainment and educational components.  In fact, it deals with issues that a lot of children will be facing throughout the upcoming school year, such as bullying, cheating and teasing.

The desire to sport cutting edge fashion is a universal instinct felt by children at different stages of life.  The preoccupation that some children have with their appearance is a natural stage that everyone goes through – (but which some never get out of!).
