I had the privilege of going to Kenya last year to build the Anne of Green Gables School. While I was there, I kept hearing the same thing: the key to changing a community was to work with the local mothers. As we visited communities in rural Kenya, and saw how families lived, I couldn’t help but agree.
I smile every time I see an ad from the ‘Because I am a Girl’ campaign on the subway. This is the type of campaign I feel Anne Shirley would support. I’m glad these issues are being brought up.
I hope to leave you with a challenge: what can you do to empower women?
Sullivan Entertainment is taking this challenge to heart, and as a result, we’ve started selling Kazuri Beads on ShopatSullivan.com. This jewelry was made by women in Kenya, and these products directly support their livelihood and ability to support their families.
