Not too long ago we brought you the news that R.H. Thomson, who played Jasper Dale in Road to Avonlea, was honoured with the Order of Canada for his contributions to the Canadian arts industry. Now, the accomplished thespian is being recognized for his work in remembering the sacrifices of Canadian veterans.
On Sunday, fifteen Ontarians were recognized for their efforts to preserve and promote the memories of Canadian veterans, as well as working to improve their current care.
One of Thomson’s areas of concern was organizing vigils for soldiers who died in World War One. He was honoured alongside actor Paul Gross, whose World War One film, Passchendaele, helped remind and teach Canadians about the sacrifices our country made.
