The Fidelio took on many performances, although the first time Beethoven introduced the opera to the people it only took on three performances before many changes were made. Many of the people dismissed it as "miserable mixture of low manner and romantic situations." So with that response Beethoven revised the opera and created the second one to be shorter and more detailed, although the people didn’t agree too much with his choice of revision. Therefore the opera bounced around for eight more years, until he agreed on the conditions that he could make on major alterations, on May 23, 1814. From this period to the time he was dying in 1827, the final pieces came together. But even with Beethoven revisions there were still not enough for some later day interpreters of Fidelio.

Fidelio: Most fascinating opera of all times
One of the most fascinating operas of all time was the Fidelio. It was a long progress to create the finishing touches of this opera, since it was composed by Beethoven not once, but four times. This was also Beethoven only opera that he ever created in his life. Though during his final stages of the opera, when Beethoven was dying, but he wrote to a friend saying, " Of all my children, this is the ones that cost me the worst birth-pangs and brought me the most sorrow; and for that reason it is the one most dear to me."
